Visitors are invited to take a walk on the wild side at the River County Nature Center. More than 400 preserved specimen of birds, fish, mammals, amphibians, and reptiles are on display at the center. The wildlife displayed are native to Nebraska, including a new Nebraska Albino Animal Display.

The Nebraska City Post Office, built in 1886, was a Richardson style building that would attract anyone's attention. Roughly around the same time, Farmers Bank and Trust Company was established. The bank was the only locally owned bank in Nebraska City at the time.

1. APPLE VARIETIESA 52-room mansion that belonged to J. Sterling Morton, Founder of Arbor Day. Many of the family's original pieces fill the home. The Carriage house displays carriages used by the family. Walking trails wind through the grounds.
